MALTBY COLLIERY

Hargreaves Chief Executive Gordon Banham yesterday announced the intention to mothball Maltby Colliery.  The reasons given for the decision were an unacceptably high risk to the  health and safety of the workforce in bringing back T125`s face as well as poor geology and financial costs.  The mining Unions and workforce have been offered the chance to formulate a rescue plan with the company in an attempt to allow continuation of the colliery.  This plan has to be finalised before the 30 November 2012.
