Orgreave Commemoration and Picnic
Sheffield women Against Pit Closures and Barnsley
Miners' Wives have organised an Orgreave Commemoration and Picnic,
Saturday 26 June 2010, meeting at the village green at 1pm. We will be
hanging rosettes and posters from trees on the village green and on the old
bridge which was the scene of terrible violence by the police against the
miners when they were picketing to stop the movement of coke from the
Orgreave Coking Plant in June 1984.
The gathering is open to both men
and women who want to support it.
The date has been chosen in order not to clash with the Northern College
Conference" Reflections on the
Miners' Strike" on the 18th June.
