The Denaby Main Gala organised by miners' strike baby Rachel Horne, promises to be a day to remember, as mining families from across the country join forces for this unique event. Starting with a "silent march" to honor the 1984/85 strike, the gala will official open at 11.00 am where there will be a memorabilia exhibition, banner display, film screening. The will be outdoor marquees packed with live music and DJs as will as traditional activities for families including fair rides, face painting and art workshops. Confirmed guest speakers on the day include Dave Douglass, Ken Capstick, Rodney Bickestaffe and Rachel Horne. Industrial Action
The National Union of Mineworkers expresses its support for fellow trade unionists in the Public Sector who today are having to resort to withdrawing their labour (a fundamental right of any worker) and take strike action against these unfair cuts to their pensions and terms and conditions.
