WOMEN AGAINST PIT CLOSURES
Women Against Pit Closures
Barnsley Miners Wives Action Group
Fraternal Greetings to all our friends and supporters.
We are in the process of replacing our battle worn banner and have commissioned Andrew Turner to produce the new banner. The estimated cost is £3,000 plus and we are appealing to comrades in the Trade Union and Labour Movement for financial support to enable us to continue to display a banner commemorating the historic struggle of the1984/85 miners strike and the involvement of the women.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Cheques should be payable to Barnsley Miners Wives Action Group c/o NUM, Miners Offices, 2 Huddersfield Road, Barnsley S70 2LS.
May we take this opportunity to thank all those who have already sent generous donations - 'look out for our new banner'.
Industrial Action
The National Union of Mineworkers expresses its support for fellow trade unionists in the Public Sector who today are having to resort to withdrawing their labour (a fundamental right of any worker) and take strike action against these unfair cuts to their pensions and terms and conditions.
