Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as i'm doing it for a friend. The gentleman in the picture on the like below has his face on a baner for the Union regarding the miners strike. Now this gentleman died just after christmas and his wife has never seen the banner. Could anyone tell me where to fine an actual picture of the banner or where I would find the banner itself so she can see it. He's from South Wales. Please leave me a message on my facebook page. It's the best way to contact me. http://www.flickr.com/photos/53671055@N00/3258176061

All this talk about phone ` Hacking `....Seemed to be the norm in 1984/85.... Perhaps the people who were victims then should consider suing ?.

Is it time for people to question the Ethics of not burning fossil fuel and producing petro-chemicals from them considering the Ecological disasters created by oil exploration? With further deep sea oil drilling expected in the Arctic regions are we looking at higher risks along with any Nuclear mishaps that may happen. At least with acid rain we can plant a new tree. Read my Blog on petrol prices http://roystonbarnsley.blogspot.com/2010/11/price-of-fuel-at-pumps.html

The BBC have just revealed that Ofcom thinks there are big problems with Murdoch’s BSkyB power grab. Their report says the Competition Commission needs to be involved. But Jeremy Hunt is refusing to make the report public. Instead, he’s been locked in secret meetings with Murdoch’s people.. Things could move very quickly – Jeremy Hunt could give Rupert Murdoch the go-ahead in the next couple of days. We need to flood our MPs with messages telling them to speak out and tell Jeremy Hunt we won’t stand for another Murdoch stitch-up.

For your Information. m Pike fund to be divvied up By Janna Sherman Distribution of the million amassed by the Pike River Miners’ Relief Fund will be distributed by April to family members of the 29 men killed in the mine explosion. Grey District Mayor Tony Kokshoorn said after a meeting of the Greymouth-based fund yesterday that lawyers and financial experts had come on board to decide how best to disperse the money fairly. Two funds — the other started by the Pike River Coal Company and now totalling 0,000 — have been flooded with donations from well-wishers nationwide. Together they total more than m. Mr Kokshoorn said the allocations would be “quite technical”. “It’s not just 29 units here. Because of circumstances of different families, there’s a lot more than that. What we are doing now is identifying exactly who the beneficiaries are and then we will distribute the funds into separate trusts.” Some money would be reserved for future allocation, including money specifically tagged for a memorial to the victims. Families would also have a say in how best to allocate the money, he said. “The main factor we’ll take into account is longevity and how long we want this trust to last, and that is all about the children.” Lawyers were working to build deeds around trust funds that would see the children looked after right through their school years — including university. Just before Christmas 0,000 from the main fund was divided among family members, including parents of the victims. However, it was likely the parents would only receive that one-off payment, Mr Kokshoorn said. A further 5,000 has been set aside for a memorial that people had tagged for specifically when making donations, and the 0,000 that was expected to be generated from the West Coast racing circuit fundraiser is tagged for the redundant Pike River miners. The trust will meet again in a fortnight.

dear CLRK. thanks for your reply i would be interested to know on what grounds/why 262 contributions to the guestbook have not been allowed, purely out of interest of personal interest of course but i'm sure the censored postees would be interested also.thank you.
Posted by: CJRK at time: 12/01/2011 18:06
Dear Old Timer, for obvious reasons I cannot disclose on the guestbook why contributions have not been allowed. I would therefore suggest that this issue should be taken off line and be delt with via letter or email.

It would appear from statements of New Labour or is it Next Now that they are concerned about the cancelled ForgeMasters loan and would like it re-instating. However this would appear that it is giving a 'Green' light to expanding the Nuclear Power generating industry. Former Labour (New) ministers have been linked to consultancies of engineering companies involved in the Nuclear industries which gives further evidence of their long term energy thinking for the UK. With the lack of investment interest in the CCS plant at Thorne it would indicate that this is the trend for the coalition government also. Therefore will the NUM executive be re-thinking its support for Labour NEW or Next in support of a more Coal for the UK energy needs inspired Political Party. What do other in the NUM present and pass think? After the Mine Workers Pension failed promises also.

probably not using my name for the same reason as you CJRK.262 comments not posted?seems a lot to me, is it due to over censorship or perhaps a lot of unprintable comments from disgruntled people unhappy with NUM and its policies.
Posted by: CJRK at time: 08/01/2011 19:46
Dear Old Timer this only goes to show how out of touch you are with the NUM if you do not know that CJRK is my name or who I am. Your assumptions as to why 262 contributions have not been allowed on the NUM guestbook are incorrect.

looks like i am not alone in my thoughts, i wonder how many other comments have been posted and not surfaced i'm afraid the guestbook will die if it is not going to be an avenue of free speech not the NUM i remember!!!!!
Posted by: CJRK at time: 04/01/2011 17:44
Dear Old Timer, not sure why you will not use your own name. There is no need to wounder how many comments have not been put on the Guestbook you only have to ask, since the Guestbook was revamped there has been 262 comments that have not been allowed on the NUM website.

As an ex Kent miner it deeply offends all the things we fought for if we choose to even recognise the scab udm (they are not even worth capital letters). Scabs they were and scabs they are!
Posted by: Graham Fields at time: 13/02/2011 18:09
Why aknowledge a scab union? I worked in Kent right till the end and find it insulting that the question of even recognising the udm repulsive scabs they were and scabs they are. Never ever trust a scab.

Will the NUM.Org.UK be distancing itself from the Labour, New, or Next Party now the truth is known about their plans?

Father killed at Amington Pit in Tamworth back in early 1950s. Any help, please contact me on mikki_55@hotmail.com . Many thanks.

We would wish to express our deepest sympathy along with the National Union to the families, friends and collegues of our comrades lost at the Pike River Colliery Disaster. We further note the Report of an underground explosion at Kellingley Colliery on Tuesday 23/11/10 and are pleased to hear that no one was injured. It may be a timely reminder to us all not to be complacent and remember SAFETY is paramount.
