Well lets keep this debate democratic. In anticipation of of getting into a power-loading position I have purchased a Tatey Peeler for Cortonwood. Why? He can then dip his Warburton's bread into his Tatey Hash unless he wants to get my bread cooker from the tip that I no longer need :-)

Dear Wayne, There you go again. I try to be fair to all views expressed BY CONTRIBUTORS NOT ME including yours. the views expressed are not necessarily mine or the NUM\'s. If you want views you disagree with censored say so. I try my best not to. Editor

Dear Editor, Here we go again. Is this the NUM website or the SLP site?
Posted by: Cortonwood at time: 14/04/2010 13:31
Wayne are you a Bully?
Posted by: Nick Wroughton at time: 14/04/2010 13:52
I've never sought to hide my SLP membership.Never wanted to constantly wash dirty linen on this site.I've never been critical of it on regional sites, and never tried to perpetually stifle debate on here.I was initially under the apparent misapprehension that, during the strike and since,we were all 'comrades'.You almost sound like you'd have preferred the UDM/NCB Domino tactics to have prevailed across the Midlands Coalfields?.Have you ever done union-repping in fear of the sack?.The UDM was halted because Arthur Scargill backed us in the face of reciprocity theories from some others(who should, frankly, have known better). In other words I experienced Arthur's loyalty long before the SLP's rebirth.Bloody well live with it!.If you're New Labour and the preferred contact option re eg the MPS scandal by former party bigwigs(divide and rule?),then damned-well come out and say so!.Otherwise let free speech prevail on this site.Perhaps there's enough work to do in the misplaced loyalty stakes?.'Fraid I couldn't live with having to blow hot and cold on issues where the record of this gov't is,quite honestly, appalling.Nick Wroughton.
Posted by: NUM Labour Party Member at time: 14/04/2010 18:51
Nick as an SLP member and obviously proud of it could you answer a question with regard to your party. I was told there was a problem at the SLP conference when it was noted that one man held a card vote that out voted all the other party members. Is that not a dictatorship not a democracy? Is there a discussion board/guest book on the SLP website or is it just a case of no debate do as we say.
Posted by: Wayne at time: 14/04/2010 21:45
A bully? UDM sympathiser? never been threatened with the sack for union work ? The assumption that if you are not in the SLP you cannot be a socialist !! That would be a healthy debate in some of the left wing group meetings that I have attended! Just in case there is any misunderstanding on this NUM website, the National Executive Committee of the NUM, DO NOT SUPPORT THE SLP. And for the record, my comments have NEVER mentioned or criticised Arthur Scargill. Where is the opportunity for open debate or guestbook input on the SLP site for all us SOCIALISTS?
Posted by: Socialist at time: 16/04/2010 13:01
In the absence of a socialist party other than Socialist Labour Party to my knowledge is the reason I put that in my comments not that I am a member of that party. You say that the 'Labour' Party is not perfect Wayne thats why I say that the NUM should re-consider its political fund after the election if we are to attract a more 'In-Tune' Labour party with its potential members and ex-members. I believe thats the way forward you cannot fight from within with both hands tied behind your back te reason why people had to leave.

I am related to Joe Hall the Yorkshire Miners Leader who died in 1654. I was born in Wombwell and both my Grandads were miners. I would love to know more about Joe Hall so that I can tell my children of our heritage of which I am very proud.

Please could ed revise my assessment of attendance at Swadlincote Market Hall meeting to well-attended(which it was in junior UDM territory too!).A young woman I had invited stood at the back and today told me in slightly affronted fashion I needed to revise my estimate upwards a fair bit or visit Specsavers!.As she's an economics student I don't dare to argue!.Nick Wroughton.

Just a thank you to the organisers and all of the people who 3/4 filled(of all places!)Swadlincote Market Hall to hear Arthur deliver a barnstorming pre-election speech on Wed Apr 7th.Thanks also to Mick Westwood for his unstinting help in supplying me with info re the Miners' Pensions issue, and Russ Guy(nice feller that he is)who didn't seem to mind me pinching(oops recycling?)his Osborne quote from the guestbook!.Nick Wroughton.

Posted by: DWP DOCTOR (QWACK) at time: 05/04/2010 09:57
I bet that DWP doctor who examined me for DLA and Knee Arthritis are sunning themselves now in a foriegn Island the prize for rejecting my claim. The cost of not paying these payments is far less than what it would cost supporting the DWP regime. If they had been at my house since 4 A.M.this morning and observed the pain and Incapacity I have and continue to be in they would have a different view. Better still let them suffer it. Why the NUM and Unite support this Tory government I do not know. If they continue their support after this election I am afraid I will not be supporting the NUM any longer either.
Posted by: 0.5 Socialism at time: 07/04/2010 07:56
There cannot be a half socialist party one that uses public with private finance to feather your own cap. At least with a Tory government you know who you are dealing with someone out to make a profit. These 'part owner' schemes for properties and part wages paid for employees schemes and Quango organisitations are about taking your retirement benefits 'upfront'. If you are a socialist vote Socialist Labour Party if you are out for a profit vote Tory because the 0.5 Socialists are neither here or there under the brand New Labour. Something the Unions need to think about during the next parliament when they are giving money to a political party or are they on the same 'bandwagon' 0.5 Socialists. Remember Maxwell and Co took it out of your pension todays theft is part-time jobs and part-share homes designed to compel you to work for F.A. wake up the Unions. NUMPTIES
Posted by: Richard at time: 09/04/2010 10:49
I don't think that the NUM support the Tory, where does it say they do? Also, what a member of the NUM may say does not mean it is the opinion and view for all of its employees but I'd like to see where the NUM support the Tory.

Even if your views are not 100% behind the 'New Labour' approach as Mick Westwood wrote it is appropriate to wish our local MPs Mick and Jeff a happy retirement from the National scene which has been a very turbulent time for mining and other industries. I expect we will still see them being active within the communities they represent.

Can I wish Ian Lavery all the best for the forthcoming General Election, and express the wish that if/ NO WHEN he is elected that he carries the fight for miners pensions once more into the heart of Government. Can I also thank Mick Clapham M.P - who is standing down at the end of this Parliament, - for the magnificent efforts that he has made on behalf of the mining communities during his term as an M.P, and also to Dave Anderson M.P. who continues to represent us as a coal - mining M.P. Both of these men I have found to be true "Class warriors " who have never forgotten their roots and have worked very hard to secure the best of terms for miners, and mining people. Also worthy of mention is our own working class hero Dave Douglass, who has also always fought our corner. I am reading his latest book at the moment called "Ghost Dancers " and I would recommend it to anyone.Well done Dave.

Mines (excuse bad grammar)a signed by Dave Douglass 'Ghost Dancers' received at 'The Long March Back' event held in Newcastle the day Barnsley lost 6-0. Well the players are entitled to one of the best drinks in the land 'Newcastle Brown'and it was probably more of a social event that they lost. Will probably read it in the winter months too busy now spring is here.
Posted by: Ex-Labour Ministers? Would not do it.Would they? at time: 23/03/2010 17:26
It would have been different had these ministers been lobbying to correct the Tory implemented MPS scandal that was the goal in 1997 looks more like a penalty miss now. Copy and paste the link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8582093.stm
